In 2025, GAES Group marks its 70th anniversary, and although it no longer resembles the company it once was, at its core, nothing has really changed.
Knowing what role to play at each moment and putting the means in place to achieve it has been the key to its success—and that’s what GAES Group has historically done.
In the beginning, back in the 1950s, customers needed bearings, and GAES Group focused all its energy on sourcing them. As an example, there’s a company from those years, still active today, that manufactured engines, machine shafts and housings based on the bearings GAES Group could supply.
In the 1960s, what mattered most was representing brands and maintaining a wide stock. GAES Group became a distributor for NACHI, SRO, URB, among others. That’s what the market demanded at the time: local presence, professional brand support, and inventory. Back then, international contacts were also vital for finding special bearings. There was no such thing as the internet, so the concept of ‘searching’ meant travelling, getting to know companies and people, and knowing who to call at any given time.
Then everything started accelerating. Power transmission was added because companies demanded more integrated solutions. This required GAES Group to begin handling and customising simple components like sprockets, pulleys, belts, and more.
Today, GAES Group analyses where it can bring value to the domestic industry. That approach has led to the creation of a mechanical engineering office, an electronics office, a machining workshop, an assembly workshop and other related services. The company now represents just one premium brand per product and is fully integrated with them, such as TIMKEN, ABB, HIWIN, KOFON, SITI, and others, forming highly specialised teams. Yet, the value proposition has not changed: GAES Group remains an industrial company, operating domestically, providing the services and products that its business partners need.
One guiding principle has always been: if you keep doing the same thing, the truth is you’re falling behind—because others are moving forward, and the gap that separates you from the market keeps growing.
GAES Group turned 70 this year, but it remains a family-owned, locally rooted company, highly attuned to what its clients require and expect as time goes on. Today, it is a mix of customised technical solutions and an industrial mechanical product stockist.
What the future holds is still unknown, but the company is committed to giving its best to adapt to whatever comes.
