Continued trade growth leads to a larger UK footprint for Dundee-based R&M Bearings in Scotland.
After 42 years servicing and supplying customers around the world, R&M Bearings, from Dundee in Scotland, have expanded their UK footprint south of the border due to continued trade growth.
The company, which was formed by Steve Martin in 1983, has built up a loyal base of trade clients over the years and having also been continual BearingNet members since its initial start-up, they are now very much an established family bearing business.
This has been enhanced further by bringing in a well-known face to the company. Paul Saunders has joined the team and will work from his Midlands base to service their existing UK trade customers, along with building new connections from his considerable contact book and sector knowledge.
“With Paul’s experience in the sector through his previous roles, it will enable the relationships with our existing trade customer base in the UK to become tighter and we are all excited for what the future holds. We’re delighted to have him on board and believe it was a major coup securing his services” said Director Craig Robertson.
“Over the years, the core of R&M Bearings success has been the staff and their respective knowledge and experience. The company has always believed that building trust and relationships, along with a personal touch with customers, has been fundamental to servicing them in the best possible way. Paul will enhance that further and has already brought several new opportunities to the table”.
R&M have a reputation for being market leaders in supply across a number of ranges, most recently FAG, INA and Timken branded products.
Director Stephen Martin added: “From the very early years of the company in the 80s and 90s, my father Steve Snr built up the customer base by being very proactive across the UK and beyond. This enabled him to establish unique supply sources, many of which are still in place today. The team has continued that process to get to where we are today with the highest ever level of premium branded stock on our shelf.”
“We are also finding a number of customers looking to place scheduled stock call-offs in order to lock in prices for the whole of 2025. We’ve already doubled those stock orders compared to the previous year, and only see that increasing as the year goes on”.
With a trade only webshop also available, which has now been active for over 15 years, the ordering process has never been easier. Stephen continued, “Our stock growth in recent years, particularly with FAG, INA and Timken products, means we are now set up perfectly to service trade customers all over the world, and in particular the UK with the next day carriage service.”
The business continues the family affair with fellow Director Nikki Gallagher making up the trade team for what looks like being a very fruitful 2025 for the company.
