Sunco Industries Improve Collection Efficiency with New Warehouse

The new facility enhances logistics efficiency through automation, reducing courier waiting times and eliminating warehouse overflow with advanced Rotary Rack technology.

Sunco Industries held a completion ceremony for its new warehouse on 1st October 2025. Around 50 attendees, including the company president, Mr. Okuyama, the Mayor of Higashiosaka City, Mr. Yoshikazu Noda, Sunco employees and the construction team, gathered to mark the occasion. The event celebrated the successful completion of the warehouse and included a traditional prayer for its safety.

President Okuyama delivered a speech explaining the reason behind relocating the previous warehouse, which was prompted by the monorail extension, and shared details about the new facility.

“This facility eliminates the need for temporary product storage space, allowing products to be automatically dispatched at the designated times for each delivery courier. This reduces courier waiting times and resolves issues caused by  limited workspace.” states President Okuyama.

The warehouse also includes a dedicated area for storing threaded rods, with capacity for items up to two metres in length. Mr Okuyama concluded by expressing gratitude to the construction workers who persevered through the extreme summer heat over the past two years.

The Mayor, Mr Noda, followed with congratulatory remarks, noting the positive reception of Sunco’s fastener diorama, created for the Osaka-Kansai Expo and displayed at Higashiosaka City Hall. He thanked the company for its ongoing support of the city and closed by saying,

“I hope that today marks the beginning of further growth and prosperity for Sunco Industries and contributes to the advancement of Higashiosaka City’s manufacturing industry.”

About the completion ceremony

A traditional Shinto ritual is held in Japan to celebrate the completion of buildings such as warehouses, factories, offices or shops. It expresses gratitude to the gods for the safe completion of construction and offers prayers for future prosperity and safety.

Reduce carrier waiting times and eliminate overflow

The most significant feature of the new warehouse, which can accommodate approximately 13,000 pallets, is substantial improvement in collection efficiency for transport companies thanks to the introduction of the Rotary Rack. These racks feature an image recognition system that enables fully automated banding, using cameras to detect whether cardboard cases lack plastic bands and applying them as needed.

Previously, goods awaiting collection would remain on the warehouse floor, reducing operational efficiency. With the Rotary Rack, items are temporary stored and automatically retrieved according to each couriers scheduled collection times, streamlining the handover process.

This not only prevents overflows within the warehouse but also reduce waiting times for delivery companies. Initially, four delivery companies will be used, with plans to expand coverage following further testing. Full-scale operations are expected to further boost the efficiency of both collection and transportation.

Contribution to streamlining the receiving process

The new warehouse has introduced a new outbound system that allows all incoming goods to be temporarily                            stored in the automated warehouse upon arrival, with only the ordered items retrieved later for dispatch. This system not only streamlines the receiving process but also contributes to reducing floor stock levels.

The new warehouse commenced receiving goods from 14th October 2025. This advancement eliminates the need for temporary storage and reduces waiting time for carriers, resulting in greater efficiency across both inbound and outbound logistics.
