Corporate Sustainability — No Hollow Words for pgb-Europe
Belgium-based fastener and fixings supplier pgb-Europe are taking ‘sustainable entrepreneurship’ very seriously, working towards a greener way of doing business.
We all have the same goal, which is to build sustainably and be environmentally conscious. Therefore, ‘sustainable business’ is not a hollow concept for pgb-Europe, but a matter of doing. One goal for pgb-Europe is to reduce their impact on the environment. On a daily basis, they work hard to improve their processes and reduce their CO2 impact. Here’s how they do it:
Green energy
The head office and warehouse in Belgium are equipped with 2,400 high-efficiency solar panels, generating solar energy, and creating a fully self- sufficient environment.
pgb-Europe is transitioning to an environmentally friendly fleet, equipped with plug-in hybrid and fully electric vehicles.
All offices and warehouses are excellently insulated and equipped with energy-efficient LED lighting which lowers the energy consumption drastically.
Environmentally friendly materials
The galvanised and specially coated fasteners are always CrVI-free and RoHS compliant.
The packaging and shipping boxes are made from recycled cardboard.
The business operations are increasingly digitised, and employees work as paperless as possible.
The paper that is still used in the office and which the catalogues and brochures are printed is FSC-labelled paper.
Circular production
pgb-Europe is committed to a closed production circuit. Waste and by-products generated during the production process at the factory in Poland are returned to the production chain as much as possible, from materials to the heat released from the machines.
pgb-Europe separates waste into plastic, wood, metal, and cardboard and are registered with Fost Plus and Valipac for declarations of their product packaging.
They minimise the use of packaging within their logistics process.
pgb-Europe continues to strive towards a sustainable business model and to have a positive effect on the global environment, community, and society. Will you join in?
