With a growing band of distributors worldwide, Newtown Bearings are expanding the QCB brand range, reflecting on business growth and product improvements.
Following a substantial company move in 2022 to a 45,000 sq ft facility on the Stafford Park Industrial Estate in Telford, Newtown continue to go from strength to strength, investing heavily in the QCB bearings brand.
Brad Thornton, Sales Advisor at Newtown Bearings tells us: “We are very proud of the QCB brand with its continuous growth and expansion. Many OEMs are now turning to QCB as their preferred supplier, with a global reach and customers as far away as Australia.”
True to their name, Newtown Bearings, the Telford-based company provide a wide range of bearings. The QCB brand is known for its well-engineered range of slewing rings and drives, but with on-going product investment, the company is launching new product series and expanding into new territory.
An example would be the QCB Vibratory Screen Bearings, previously supplied exclusively to large international OEMs, and now the range is being extended to trade customers.
“Large international OEMs have been fitting QCB Screen Bearings in large quantities for several years, so we know the quality of the product cannot be questioned” says Brad Thornton, “we now want to extend this offering to our trade customers. Thus, during 2024 QCB will launch the ‘QCB Extreme Series’ of Vibratory Screen Bearings.”
The year-on-year sales growth allows Newtown Bearings to carry out continuous subtle product improvements, maintaining a key focus on quality. Bespoke designs for special applications require exceptional product components to withstand the harshest conditions. In 2022, unique bearings were designed in-house for offshore engineering projects, as well as large diameter split section slewing rings for UK lighthouses.
Established in 1958, the family run business has grown significantly, with 55 dedicated staff members across three sites, two in Telford & one in Belfast. As well as investing in product development, Newtown Bearings takes the same approach when it comes to their team, providing staff with opportunities to learn new skills and grow in the business, as well as offering support with relevant qualifications such as engineering degrees.
In 2023, three members of the Newtown Bearings team took part in a charity skydive for former colleague Mark Lowe. Brad, Emma and Rob were the brave volunteers, and raised an incredible £2,585 for Mark Fights Cancer, with proceeds going to three amazing local charities.
