The Challenges of Home Improvement at International Hardware Fair Italy

International Hardware Fair Italy is back on 8th-9th May 2025 in Milan – Bergamo, featuring hundreds of prestigious Italian and international brands in the hardware, DIY, and home improvement industries have already confirmed.

Building on the success of the inaugural event in 2023, which welcomed 5,300 visitors from 30 countries, the upcoming edition promises significant enhancements.

The event will feature two days of exhibitions, an extensive conference and congress agenda, one-to-one business meetings between exhibitors and distributors, an incoming program for buyers from all over Europe and North Africa, and an outdoor area for showcasing tools, machinery, and live demonstrations. The event is powered by EISENWARENMESSE, the world’s leading hardware and DIY trade fair, held in Cologne.

The Bergamo Fairground is an easily accessible location from both Italy and abroad, thanks to its connection with major motorways and its proximity to the Orio al Serio International Airport and Bergamo train station. To make travel as seamless as possible, a free shuttle service from both the airport and the train station will be available for all visitors.

Partners who have confirmed their commitment to supporting the event include EDRA/GHIN, a global association of DIY and home improvement retailers representing more than 34,000 stores in 78 countries, as well as large-scale resellers and digital platforms.

Other confirmed partners include ZHH, a trade association specialising in hardware in the DACH countries (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland); FWI, a German association of machine tool manufacturers; Assofermet Ferramenta, an association of Italian hardware wholesalers; MADE4DIY, an Italian consortium of DIY and gardening manufacturers; ASCOM Bergamo; and the capital goods distribution and rental association Assodimi/Assonolo.

International Hardware Fair Italy will also host the annual Product of the Year Award, a prestigious prize for exhibitors.

1. How have you found the participation of international companies?

Over 300 companies and brands have already confirmed their participation in International Hardware Fair Italy and we expect to reach a total of 400 exhibitors.

The companies are based in 19 countries: Austria, Belgium, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, UK and USA. Together, they represent the most avant-garde and dynamic share of the entire global market.

The second edition is preparing to be more comprehensive and attractive, covering different product sectors, from hardware, tools and accessories, to automotive, protective equipment, construction, lighting, outdoor and gardening.

2. What are the main conference topics at this year’s event?

The main topics that will be covered during the two days of International Hardware Fair Italy concern digitalisation, specifically how new technologies are transforming the sector, sustainability through new consumption models and the most innovative solutions for the entire sector, the evolution of distribution formats and new challenges for retail. There will also be in-depth coverage of economic issues, colour and all manual and electrical tools.

3. How do you intend to foster networking among participants during the fair?

Networking is a priority for our event. In addition to the incoming programme for buyers from all over Europe to ensure the presence of useful interlocutors for our exhibitors and visitors, we have taken steps to organise more than 300 one-to-one meetings to maximise the benefit of visiting companies and professionals.

4. Which international associations have confirmed their support for the event?

The event is supported by key partners: EDRA/GHIN, which brings together the DIY and home improvement shops (more than 35,000 in 79 Countries); ZHH, representing the hardware trade in the DACH area, FWI the association of tool manufacturers in Germany and Assofermet Ferramenta, an association of Italian hardware wholesalers.

5. Why is Bergamo ideal for the location of this event?
